Economic Impact of the Oil
and Gas Industry on Alaska
A new study released today on Alaska's oil and gas industry shows that the industry spends $2.1 billion annually in the state. The Economic Impact of the Oil and Gas Industry on Alaska is the first statewide study that accurately captures oil and gas industry employment and spending impacts. The amount the industry spends annually is about equal to the State of Alaska's general fund spending ($2 billion).
The new study was commissioned by the Alaska Oil and Gas Association (AOGA) and the Alaska Support Industry Alliance (The Alliance). The two organizations commissioned Alaskan research firms: Information Insights, based in Fairbanks; and The McDowell Group, based in Juneau.
