ANCHORAGE, Alaska — January 25, 2022Today, the Alaska Oil and Gas Association (AOGA) was encouraged by Governor Dunleavy’s annual State of the State Address to the State Legislature.

“Ten years ago, some had the idea that policies didn’t matter, that the oil was running out and the decline was inevitable,” Governor Dunleavy said in his State of the State address. “There was basically nothing we could do. Today, our production numbers prove that good policy that encourages business works.”

“At AOGA, we agree, good policy absolutely matters. We are pleased the governor recognized the progress made in production numbers,” said Kara Moriarty, AOGA President and CEO. “But as the governor said, we are not out of the woods yet. Our industry still has a long way to go to regain our job numbers to pre-pandemic levels and continue to increase production, which is not easy as competition for capital has never been greater. We look forward to working with the governor and the Legislature on continuing to build a bright future in Alaska, fueled by our oil and gas industry.”

AOGA is a professional trade association whose mission is to foster the long-term viability of the oil and gas industry in Alaska for the benefit of all Alaskans. More information about the organization can be found at www.aoga.org, on Facebook (AlaskaOilAndGas), or Twitter (@AOGA).
