AOGA statement on Judge Gleason’s decision on ANWR lease sale

ANCHORAGE- The Alaska Oil and Gas Association today applauded the decision by Judge
Sharon Gleason allowing the Bureau of Land Management to proceed with its ANWR lease sale,
scheduled for tomorrow.

“We believe Judge Gleason arrived at a well-reasoned decision that aligns with the law,” said
Kara Moriarty, president and CEO of AOGA. “We agree with the Court’s rationale, and are
pleased that BLM can proceed with its lease sale as Congress directed.”

The 2017 Tax Act (Public Law 115-97) directed the BLM to conduct two sales offering at least
400,000 acres of high-potential hydrocarbon lands for bid by 2024. The lease sale is scheduled
for 10:00 a.m. on Wed., Jan. 6, 2021.
